DINNERS
The hardest thing about going back to work is getting on a schedule and getting dinner made. We keep saying we are going to stop ordering out, but dinner time comes and nothing is ready to be cooked. So, we end up ordering out. We try to plan, but that is useless as well. WE HAVE TO GET BETTER AT THIS!!!! It is something we struggled with last school year and again are struggling with it. In the summer this was not a problem. I was on such a good schedule. KiKi and I would play all day and by 4 I would begin prepping dinner while she played. Now I get home at 4 and need to settle in before I can even think about prepping. I know I should be planning the night before, but by the time Kiki gets to bed I am exhausted and still have papers to grade. So what do I do? I grade for a little bit and go to bed to get up the next morning and start all over again. It is CRAZY. So my weekend work is to figure out a way to get better organized during the school year. I need to get better at this.

I know this is a stretch.. but.. have you ever tried cooking a few things on the weekend and then freezing them? (or having Z cook on the weekends) That way you can take them out in the morning and let them thaw while you are at work and then just pop it in the oven when you get home? I used to do this sometimes when I worked full time! Good Luck figuring it out!
I hear ya! We dont even get in until 7 or 8 sometimes due to their extra-curricular activity schedules (8 activites among 3 kids M-Th). We use the crock pot alot! I made turkey meatballs last night. Rolled them and put them in the crockpot in the sauce. Put in the frig. This am, I let sit out for about 45 mins while got ready, then put in crcokpot heater and ready to go. We also get Market Day stuff from school, do you have that at yours? If not, go on MarketDay.com and see what school is closest to you and find out when the next pick up time is. Order the easy dinners and you are ready to go! Do yo have an Italian Deli near you (Altomante's?) They have good frozed italien meals you can make when you get home. Just put inwhen you walk in then play with Kiki and relax while it cooks. They also have prepared meals/entrees at Costo, we get some there too. Every little bit of simplicity helps when it comes to balancing work, home, kids, etc!!
Thanks for all of the suggestions. I will have start some of them. I tried My Girlfriends Kitchen last year and that was great. Of course they now closed in my area. Thanks again!! =)
